Byron Bay Writers Festival
Volunteers fill a wide range of roles including administration, venue and event supervision, ushering and ticket checking, driving writers about, hospitality and site maintenance. Byron Community Centre
We could not operate without assistance from the pool of volunteers who work as ushers, theatre technicians, catering staff, emergency relief, and on the front desk. Friends of the Koala
Friends of the Koala is a non-profit community group run by volunteers dedicated to conserving koalas in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales. Volunteer rehabilitators operate a 24 hour rescue service for sick, injured and orphaned koalas. Koalas are cared for in home care or at the Koala Care Centre on Rifle Range Rd, Lismore, NSW. Critically ill koalas are transferred to the Australian Wildlife Hospital in Beerwah, QLD.

Liberation Larder Inc (a Food Lifeline)
The mission of Liberation Larder (a food lifeline) is to end hunger in Byron Bay and surrounds. Goals: To collect and provide food for anyone who needs it. To initiate a programme whereby local businesses will donate food.

Lifeline
Lifeline plays a significant role in encouraging sustainability in the community. Also, through Lifeline shops, people donate clothes, books and other merchandise the charity can re-sell.

Pets For Life
PFL has been operating as a non-euthanizing cat shelter since 2001. In one period of 12 months over 105 cat /kittens cats/kittens were re-homed. PFL has been rescuing, caring and re-homing abandoned, surrendered, mistreated or lost cats since 2001. WIRES (NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service)
WIRES Northern Rivers branch opened in April 2004. It encompasses an 8800sq km area taking in the local government areas of Byron, Ballina, Richmond Valley, Kyogle and Lismore. WIRES is a non-profit, Non Party Political organisation, where animal welfare always comes first. All carers are voluntary, and give their time and emotions free of charge.
